Ontario Welcomes $3.7 Million Boost to Manufacturing in Waterloo Region
Plant expansion will create 16 new, good-paying jobs
The Ontario government is welcoming an investment of almost $3.7 Million by HongSheng North America Inc. to boost the company’s manufacturing capacity at its Cambridge manufacturing facility, creating 16 new good-paying jobs.
The company’s investment was announced today by Jess Dixon, MPP for Kitchener South – Hespeler.
“Building on a long history of manufacturing excellence in our region, HongSheng North America Inc.’s investment in their Cambridge facility demonstrates that our government’s targeted approach to creating a competitive business climate in the province is working,” said Jess Dixon, MPP for Kitchener South – Hespeler. “Through the Regional Development Program, our government is proud to support local businesses as they strengthen their presence in Ontario through expansion and job creation.”
With this investment, HongSheng North America Inc. will install three new production lines at their Cambridge facility for manufacturing liquid cooling and heating products, advanced thermal solutions and battery solutions for heavy off-highway equipment and vehicles. Additionally, this project will establish the company’s first North American manufacturing facility in Ontario, specializing in thermal management solutions for wind turbines, specialized components for fuel cell vehicles, and battery solutions for the telecom and transportation industries.
“Ontario is the manufacturing powerhouse of the nation, with the sector supporting over 800,000 good-paying jobs for our talented workforce,” said Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. “We are proud to support HongSheng North America Inc.’s expansion in Ontario, and thank them for continuing to invest in their workers and community.”
In support of their investment, Ontario is providing the company $554,000 in funding through the Advanced Manufacturing and Competitiveness (AMIC) stream of the Regional Development Program (RDP).
“We’re excited to expand our operations into Ontario—a region with a rich manufacturing history and a highly skilled workforce,” said Frank Gao, CEO of HongSheng North America Inc. “The Ontario government’s openness to business made it the ideal choice over other jurisdictions. This investment not only strengthens our customer’s supply chains across North America but also demonstrates our commitment to innovation and growth in advanced manufacturing. By partnering with the Ontario government through the AMIC program, we’re bringing exciting new opportunities to the Cambridge and Kitchener communities and creating high-quality jobs.”
Ontario is investing $180 million through its Regional Development Program to help manufacturers across the province grow while supporting distinct regional priorities. To date, Ontario has supported more than 135 projects through the program, leveraging more than $1.9 billion in new investments and helping to create over 3,500 jobs.
