Celebrate Earth Day 2026 – Wednesday April 22 –  in Waterloo Region

There are many events planned this year in Waterloo Region to celebrate Earth Day 2026! To make participation accessible for working people, students and families, events start on Saturday April 18 and can be found throughout Earth Week and beyond.

Events in Cambridge

  • Head on over to the Riverside Soccer Field parking lot to pick up a free tree form the City of Cambridge on Saturday, April 25th!
  • Participate in the ⁠Community Clean-Up hosted by Cambridge City Green on April 25th from 9:30am-12pm.
  • Cambridge Public Library in Preston is celebrating Earth Day with family-friendly activities, crafts, and seeds to take home! Event is on April 25th from 10am-12pm.

Events in Kitchener

  • ⁠Stanley Park Community Association in Kitchener is hosting an Earth Day Wellness Event on Sunday, April 19th from 1pm-4pm. There will be plenty of information booths, games, a photo station, and an organized bike ride. Over 20 local groups promoting sustainability will be featured!
  • ⁠The City of Kitchener will also be hosting an Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 25th from 9am-11:30am at Centreville Chicopee Community Centre. This is a family friendly event where you can meet the Forestry team and learn about the benefits of trees. There will also be free kid’s crafts!
  • ⁠You can also register online to receive a free two-gallon potted tree from the City of Kitchener while supplies last. Kitchener has been recently recognized as the Tree City of the World for the second year in a row by the Arbor Day Foundation and United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.

Events in Waterloo

  • ⁠The City of Waterloo is hosting its annual Earth Day Community Clean-Up on Saturday, April 25 from 10am-12noon at Waterloo Park East. Refreshments will be available, and you could plant a sunflower seed to bring home! You can register for the clean-up ahead of time here.
